The Season

Now as far as I know, the Season starts sometime in the winter. The exact date has been lost by the imperfections of men, or has it been lost at all? The day after Halloween a few radio stations started playing Christmas music. Now a few years ago I would have been frustrated that the Season is starting too soon. Thanksgiving has not passed yet! Then just the other day my dear wife said that she does not know why people get mad that it is playing already. She loves it and enjoys that it is playing. This got me thinking that she might have something there. So during the season we say to ourselves that we wish that the season would last all year round. So why is it that when they start playing music to remind us of this great Season, we get mad or frustrated. To me, the music helps me remember the good memories I have of Seasons past. This will include Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. All the music is about getting together as a family and loved ones, eating good food, buying presents to give to other people, and enjoying the weather and snow. Now Thanksgiving does include some or all of these activities right? So why get all ruffled when we hear music, why wait? I mean I'm sure that all of us have already started planning on some of the gifts that we are going to give, right?

So as for our week, it has gone pretty well. Caleb has been really shy around the ward members. But after about five minutes he is warmed up and starts meeting people too an extent. He loves music and dances to almost every song he hears. He seems so happy and is a complete joy to our lives.

At work I am putting up Christmas lights and am getting excited to see some snow falling in the valley. I am also two thirds of the way through this semester and am already registered for the next. I am going to take an English class called Intermediate Writing. That should be fun, I hope.

Carolyn is ready for this semester to be over. She is doing ok but she needs a break from school. For the next semester she is going to take a statistics class and a physics class. This is going to be a longer semester. Wish her luck.

So that is about it. I know that there is something I have forgotten but oh well. Be grateful, be smart, be clean, be humble, be prayerful, be true.

  1. Good point there bro! I am really sad that I don't have any family around to celebrate any of the Season, but I am grateful to have good memories of Season's past like you said. We had a good life growing up, didn't we!? ;)

  2. I'll tell you why. There's nothing wrong with the music. I love it! But, if you start it too early, by the time you get to December...20th or so, you've heard them all a few hundred times over and it feels as if you stuck in a sort of time warp.

Love the songs and the Season, but too much of good thing can...well...you know.

I could use snow from October to February, that's just fine with me.
